Help...applied for Virgin Card, now they want me to ring to discuss credit limit

This is the first time I've tried stoozing...can anyone advise on the correct way to proceed?

I've got my Egg Money card account set up and ready to go. I've just applied for (and been accepted for) a Virgin Credit Card with 15 month's interest free balance transfer and a 2.98% fee. However - they want me to "ring to discuss the credit limit".

When I applied I was honest about the cards I already had - so they know there's no balance on the Egg Card. So when I ring, what should I say? Obviously I want the biggest possible limit so I can maximise my earnings, but if they ask "why do you want a big limit when you have no balance on your other cards" I don't know what to say...advice appreciated please!

Presumably I should just say "what's the biggest limit I can have" and then see how it goes from there?

Thanks!! Am very excited about finally being in a position to make money from stoozing :-)

    You're worrying unnecessarily.

If you already hold an MBNA run card they'll be wanting to talk to you about shifting credit limits around.

If you don't already hold an MBNA run card, they'll be wanting to sell you PPI and/or card loss protection.

Also, you won't need to use Egg Money as a mule card because the Virgin card will SBT directly from your current account.
  • That's fab - thanks!! Especially for the tip that I can just balance transfer into my bank account directly. Seems like craziness but can't complain!! :j

How long does it take for the money to arrive into my bank account? I'm aware that the tax deadline for opening ISA's this year runs out in about 15 days. I'll be transferring the stoozing cash into the ISA but it needs to arrive pronto for me to be able to take advantage of this year's allowance.

Mine took about 5 days I think. There's the bank holiday on Monday of course :)

roughly about the same for mine
  • That's really helpful - thanks! Five days should just about be OK I think. I've plumped for the A&L 10% ISA so am also relying on them to get the account open in time...wish me luck :-)

Is that really a 10% ISA from Alliance and Leicester? I was looking at opening a Barclays one at 6.5% for the new tax year. Are there any conditions to the A&L one such as no instant access etc?

    Thanks

You need to open another product with them. I've recommended it to a 16 year old who's also opening their Premier 21 account (10% but only on first 1000).

    Full T&C at http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/PISA-Issue-2.pdf

Look out for the clause on transferring in prior year's Cash ISA's where you need to split it 50% between Cash and S&S
