Monitor Problem........

hi i have just formatted my computer and when it restarted it is is 4-bit colour and the icons are massive.

i have installed the drivers but its stayin the same.

i had a look in the device manager and it says that there isnt enough free resources for it.

i had a look what is conflicting with it and found out there is a thing called vgasave or vgasav using the same parts that the display adapter needs.

how do i sort this out?

Thanks for any help,

Andy

It sounds like you have installed the monitor driver but perhaps not the graphics (video card) driver, therefore windows is using a default one that it detected.

Have you rebooted after re-installing the drivers?

I have seen this twice with my card. I just went into display properties and changed the settings. I think it might be the gfx chip goes into this mode when certain errors occured.

Check the card is seated properly.

  • When you format a hard drive you need to install the graphics card driver first, then you alter the settings.
If you haven’t changed anything and just formatted? Then the reinstall of software must have upset the computer some how.
Maybe Xp is missing some files for your G card to work properly, the drivers make the monitor go small and maybe you might need to start all over again with a fresh install?
