Have paid via PayPal but ebay shows 'pending' status..?

Last week, three consecutive ebay purchases (within a couple of days) were all paid for by PayPal in exactly the same way as I've always done.

I've been scratching my head this week as to why nothing's arrived and I suddenly noticed that all three have a little hourglass against them in the payment column instead of the usual £ sign. On clicking, it says both 'payment is pending through PayPal' and 'payment was sent on date x'.

How can both statements be true? I've checked my bank account and it says the payments have indeed been debited.

Has anyone else come up against this? What on earth is going on?

It sounds like the payments have gone through as a echeque which can take 10+ days to clear. Have you checked whether your credit/debit card has expired?

My cards are all still in date and, as said, the payments have left my bank account just as they always have done.

Have you checked whether the cards are still on file with PayPal?

It could be that the person you are buying off will have to accept the payment. The personal accounts only allow you to receive 2 payments from a card. Have you contacted the seller to see if this is the case maybe?

It's funny you should say this - I sold something yesterday and on paypal it says transaction completed, but on ebay it says that the payment is pending. I'm totally unsure as to whether it's safe to send the item out. The buyer has an unconfirmed address - maybe that's why???

Three payments/transactions in a row, from different sellers...?

I am a 'verifed customer' under paypal and this situation is totally off!!!!ing.

Ebay doesn't seem interested in hearing complaints about their service. Is there any way of bringing a problem like this to their attention - a contact number or email?

There probably is a reason for it. You could call PayPal if you wanted.

I would never send anything to a uncomfirmed address, you are not covered by paypal seller protection policy.
