Hi

I dont know if anyone can help me, but here goes!

I have a potential employer calling me on Wednesday, but I will be away from home for most of the day, so I was wondering if anyone knows how to divert calls coming in to my landline to my mobile?

Is there any way of doing that?

There is. Bt do this quite easily, but I'm not sure of the exact details though.

It involves pressing # and * buttons to set and cancel. I also think that there is unfortunately a monthly fee for it. Call BT CS to enquire. But as it will only be temporary for you, ...

Maybe you could call the potential employer, explain this, and add your mobile number to your details.

Yeah, it would make sense I suppose! If there was a free temporary way that would have saved the hassle of calling, especially as I have a few potential employer calls soon, it would have been great.

Will call BT and see what they say!

If I'm reading that right, you want an incoming call from a potential employer to your home landline to be diverted to your mobile - at no cost to you.

The obvious 'no cost solution' is to borrow an answering machine and put it on your line with an outgoing message saying something like,"I'm sorry, I'm not at home to take your call at the moment but I can be contacted immediately on 07xxxxxxxxx. Please re-dial."

I have to say though that, unless you're head and shoulders above any other candidiate, your chances of a potential employer doing that (unless, as suggested, you've very politely warned such a message may be received) are minimal.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
