going back into HE

Hello

Was wondering if any of you could offer me some advice or point me in the right direction. Last year I completed a HND in Multimedia which I really enjoyed, the subject covered a broad number of areas but didnt really touch on anything in any great detail, for the last 5 months I've been working full time but recently I feel I would love to go back into education and maybe study more closely specific areas I enjoyed during my HND but at a higher level, a level I believe only University can provide. I would like to know if anyone completed a Multimedia course and then moved onto complete a similar course at a higher level, any course recommendations and advice would be much appreciated.

Secondly theres the financial side, i'm currently still paying back around £3000 for the loan I took out for the HND, is it really feasible to be possibly starting a 3 year course costing £10,000? while I am still paying off some of my existing loan.

If im posting on the forum/website feel free to direct me elsewhere!

Thanks in advance.

If you choose a degree with similar content to your HND, many universities will let you start on the second year. By doing this you will have normal student funding available to you. You need to find suitable courses and then contact the Admissions Tutors to enquire as to the possibility of this. You'll need to have full details of subjects studied and your results.
    Good luck.

By loan do you mean student finance?

As oldernotwiser says you can probably get on yr 2 of another degree depending on how close it is to the original course - but better might be a top up course to 'top up' to a degree? The number of years you chose to study and what you have done previously will determine what if anything you are entitled to from the LEA/SLC
  • Yep I took out a student loan for living costs while i was studying my HND. About the starting on the second year option, I honestly never thought of that so thanks for the heads up, my only concern is that a dont want to miss out on too much of the 'Learning' from Year 1, but hopefully the knowledge gained from the HND should compensate for this, anyway thanks and I'll think ill start looking at some prospectuses and attending some open evenings,

    Thanks
