Tesco are very good for elasticated school trousers and prices are not bad either. I have tried many others over the last few years but always revert back to Tesco. But keep in mind if buying now the boys may well have a growth spurt over the next 6 weeks.

Matalan have some good prices on school uniform at the moment - I have bought the trousers and they look very good, but obviously we will have to wait to see how they survive the playground! Woolworths are good - that's where I usually buy trousers / shorts from. John Lewis have good stuff - it costs more but does survive the wash and they will go out of their way to find things that fit (good if your child isn't a 'regular' shape). The only thing is that kids tend to grow out of school uniform so quickly, and it gets such a battering - paint, glue, falling over etc, that it is probably best to stick to cheap until at least secondary school.
Our school has a second hand school uniform sale - especially good for girl's summer dresses, school summer hats etc. Not as good for boy's trousers, school jumpers etc because they get such a battering they tend to look very tatty.

I would recommend Asda who usually have great prices on the school uniforms, shoes and jackets.

Debenhams have some school stuff (in store) in the sale at 70% off

its pot luck on colors and sizes in the sale, but they do the usual white and blue shirts and black/navy/grey trousers, jumpers etc.

The quality is good, and well worth it if you're lucky enought to get the sale stuff in the right size. If not their normal stock is good quality and not bad prices and theres some sort of special offer on at the moment, but can't remember what - that offer may be on their wweb-site.

Long thread about uniforms here that was started at the end of May.

If you want to use the supermarkets you really do need to start now as generally once they sell out they don't restock ;)

I've also noticed that! Shopping in Asdas on friday night i noticed some mums buying new uniform on friday night - the day the kids broke up from school!

I've found Woollies to have the best offers at the moment (3 for 2 as another poster already said) and decent quality. Tesco items are good and reasonably priced. Only ever bought one skirt from Matalan and although this was a good price it didn't last and soon went bobbly.
