Can't wait to move out of my current house. Bit of a moan. Sorry.

I moved into my current place in August last year. It looked fantastic, really clean, really friendly people. However, since then there have been numerous things that have got my back up. The handyman just lets himself in on the first Monday of every month. He also moaned at me about storing crockery etc in the cellar. The LL tried to let strangers use our shower (posted a thread a while back). The house isn't double glazed and my room is by far the coldest in the house. Big draft from the window and my bed is in front of a very poorly filled-in fireplace (when I say filled-in I mean there's a slab of wood that is stuck there which rattles all night when the wind blows). It's FREEZING at night. The kitchen is so pathetically small. It's like an under-stairs cupboard. People in the house aren't as nice as they seemed. One of the girls is a clean-freak who has a go when it's slightly messy. She says that because of where she comes from (she's Nigerian) she has a low tolerance to grime and germs so has to be in a clean environment all the time. The other girl has been really bad-tempered in the last month or so, slamming around, being funny with everyone. Our bills are paid by meter and it costs a fortune to keep the house warm. Our neighbours are noisy as hell. The doorbell doesn't work properly.

Little things really; I should have paid much more attention before moving in. I'm moving into a place with my g/f in August. Need to start looking. Guess I know what to look out for now.

Yeah life's too short to be unhappy and, you do become more fussy about future property as a result of past failure's. I remember all to well living in a paper thin 1984 semi with inconsiderate idiots for neighbours.

    Good Luck.

  • Since when were people from Nigeria more susceptible to grime, dirt and germs than anyone else?
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • I feel for you! I can't wait to get out of my rented place but don't want to rent another place for 6 months as I'm trying to buy somewhere. My neighbours are a nightmare as the walls are so thin and the house is freezing and costs a fortune to heat! Sorry you live with such a bunch of loonies though!

Good luck and hope August comes round quick for you ;)
