Do you neg every non paying buyer?

I have definitely noticed there are more buyers who bid and then don't pay recently. I usually just go through the unpaid dispute leave them a strike but don't usually follow it up with a neg. However now that its happening more often should I be negging them too?

  • Well you won't be able to for long, only a NPB. Thats if I've understood the new rules correctly.

Yep, I give 10 days and 3 emails before opening a dispute, and if there is no response after the 8th day, they get a strike and shiny red neg.

Sellers have enough to deal with on ebay without being jacked around by these idiots. When I am no longer allowed to leave negs, I will be opening disputes on day 7. I am in this game to make money, not to faff around chasing idiots.

Steve you have a good point about the NPB process. I'm quite easy going but I think when the new rules come in that we all need to go for the NPB as soon as we can as it is our only way of dealing with tardy buyers.

However, by doing that we will of course be pushing people away from using cheques or postal orders due to the time they spend in the post, so more people will move to paypal as it is instant and also will mean the NPB can't be opened. Sort of a Catch 22 really.

If a buyer has said they will pay by cheque/PO, I tend to give a bit more time anyway. Communication is cheap, quick, and really, really appreciated by sellers.

What "grinds my gears" is the buyers who use BIN, then wait a week before sending the payment by instant paypal. Why? If more people use paypal and pay quick, then so be it - improves my cashflow and all is groovy.

Yes - I've negged every one (bar for one when I stupidly pressed 'neutral' by mistake).

I think I've negged about ten since I started on e-bay and only had one retaliatory neg back.

You have just inspired me..I had an NPB who had not responded to the NPB process but I hadn't negged her as I felt sorry for her. I've just gone back now and negged her, at least if she is going to make a habit of this the other sellers will know what to expect.

I'm debating though whether to start the NPB on another buyer who is already at day 11. She's the overseas one who doesnt like paypal and now says she can't afford to pay me straight away as she has children to feed..I do so hate it when they play the 'child' card.

If she cant afford to feed her children, then she shouldnt be buying stuff on ebay!

When the new rules come into force, will the non-paying bidder be able to leave a neg for a seller after the FVF has been granted?
