BMW electrical fault

My boyfriends BMW has a problem -- the radio AND the automatic boot lock both stopped working at the exact same time. Obviously a electrical fault but he has checked fuses etc and nothing seems to be the problem. I know some fancy cars have special ways of being mended - has any one got any expert advice in order to fix this errror? Muchos thanks in anticipation.

    Hi,
Just a thought, CD player stack in the boot on some models, worth a look.
    maybe something there not right.

i would jump onto one of the bmw forums for the model, i only found out how to reset my autobox profile on there as bmw dont document a lot of suff.

sounds more like a physical wire has corroded comming from the boot to the wireing loom, plus side is its not likely to cost much in parts, just find a good electrical specialist.

could be a relay problem. if you can find the correct one, its a simple matter to check by substitution.
    Get some gorm.
  • Mostly two fuse boxes in cars have you check them all?
  • Whats the model?

As some models (like totalsolutions said) have two fuse boxes one at the front and one in the boot (right side) or it could be a bad ignition switch.

BMW forums are the way to go, it's the previous module of the 5-series, the E39, which has different electrics to the current E60 5-series.
