Please Help Is This Identy Theft?

Sorry this is not debt related but I hope someone can help.My son opened an email which said he had won a Yahoo! prize drawer of £850,000. He has given details of his: full name, country of origin, present address, sex, date of birth, age, occupation, telephone no, and marital status.
I have seen the email and it is obviously a scam, do you think this could result in identity theft or fraud, and is here anything he can do.

Contact all three major credit reference agencies and they can put a note on his file. There is also a specific register for those at risk of id fraud, and someone will post it up soon.

And ring the bank if they have any knowledge of which one he uses.
