They look nice - husband's step dad is from Lancashire and likes places like that - countryside etc - they might want to visit - mmm - and might even pay a bit towards it (ooh. aren't I awful).
Thanks very much for all your help - am going to see how easy it is to get there from Leicester and then phone In laws (they sometimes book a place near us - we get the bargain bucket price and they get the 5 star accommodation - ah well, 1 day it will be us).All credit cards paid off.

If you collect Tesco vouchers, how about checking out the partner sites as a contribution to the cost? Haven is not really my thing either, but we did have a nice Easter break in Cornwall one year, free of charge thanks to Tesco vouchers.0

Some of the camping holiday people like French life (arrivals to 11/7) mathews holidays (arrivals till 16/7) are doing offers. If you look around I think you could combine a cheap caravan/camping deal in france? with a cheap flight. Eayjet are doing summer flights now and BMi are doing cheap summer flights but I guess it depends if it is easy to get to an airport.
We always get cheaper holidays as Glasgow hols start at the end of June and if you get away before the English main holidays you can get lots of good deals.
I personally would go aboroad -cos it usually works out soo much cheaper.
For instance go through travel republic and you can get an apartment in the costa brava for about £500 then find cheap flights (assuminmg you can get to an airport) for about £350 all in.
We often beat the prices by flying out of London or Liverpool and travel by train to the airport. I'm not so familiar with leicestershire or how close E. midlands etc is?0 -
Not driving is a tricky one re cheap hols unfortunately as it limits you re location.
As a single holday investment then a pre errected tent in france would probably be good but costing is based on you getting yourself there remember... and also be aware of the need for public transport access when you are there.
TBH if you can invest a bit get a big tent (try UK campsite for advice and second hand bargains- better a second hand "named brand" as a rule than an agros pack- but if budget is tight then this might be a reasonable bet and would last a couple of golidays- they have tent/beds/sleeping bags- consider a 5 man tent and a 2 man for the elder 2 to sleep in say). If you have a tent and a gas stove/water container then you can have some fun, though "roughing it" camping holidays- sometimes when noone worries about staying clean/tidy or getting to bed on time you can have the best holday!
If camping again UK campsite is good for site recommendations- do you want facilities eg bar on site etc or just a washing block? Watch out again for transopt links- you'd probably be looking to go by train with a taxi to the site with the kit, BUT you want to be able to get the bus to places as well.
Have fun!0
