hi ppl.
been out the office for a couple of weeks and when checking my emails i see i have 398 messages waiting. i know they'll mostly be junk, and due to the fact im only on dial up here and it'll take all day to recieve these messages, is there any way i can delete/refuse them without having to wait for them all to be downloaded?
im using outlook express 6 if that is of any relevance.
cheers guys/gals

Does your internet provider allow you to view mail on the web. You may be able to logon to your email via the internet which will allow you delete and filter all the emails and then you can just receive the ones you want when in outlook.
Also you can do a receive where you just receive the headers of the emails - subject line, sender information etc. This way it will be a lot quicker to see the emails and you can then fully download any you want. Cant remember how you do this in outlook express though, sorry.0 -
To view headers only
To specify what you want to download
You can make all messages, only headers, or only new messages available for offline viewing by changing the synchronization settings for IMAP, HTTP, or news server folders.- From the Folders list, select an IMAP server, an HTTP server, or a news server.
- In the main window, select one or more folders or newsgroups.
- Click Settings, and then click to change the setting to one of the following:
- All Messages
- New Messages Only
- Headers Only

I just copied that from the Outlook help page -..... But you can change the view to folders. Click view menu >> layout >> select folder list.
The webmail way is the best way to go on dial up ...Rich people save then spend.
