Chicken pox relief

Apart from calomine lotion is there any other relief for sufferers?

Thanks

bicarbonate of soda in a luke warm bath, and there is a cream you can buy from the pharmacist, I shan't give it's name, but if you ask at the counter, they will recommend it, and it prevents itching.

Keep the clothing light, and skin aired and cool, and take plenty of fluids.
Apart from that its just a waiting game.
Calamine is well worth using as it has antiseptic propeties as well.

Antihistamines can be used to stop the itching.

Aqueous calamine is easier to apply than calamine lotion

Piritese - an antihistime you can buy over the counter worked really well on my son when he had chickenpox. It was recommended by the pharmacist.

aloe vera gel from health food shops - barrats often have it on offer - chill it in the fridge prior to use.

i found antihistamine helped my son when he had it - also a camomile teabag in the bath worked wonders. there are creams that will numb the area, i used to use one for my eczema when it was bad, to stop me from scratching or touching it. it was ages before i realised it was cream for piles :rotfl:

I was going to say calamine cream, as opposed to lotion, as well -- it's much easier to apply.

You didn't say whether the sufferer is a child or adult... If an adult, chickenpox seems to be really bad (and I speak from experience...:o ) and you've just got to put up with it...

No one is yet, but we came in contact with it and if my baby gets it I want to be very prepared, to reduce the sleepless nights!!!

Thanks so far for all the advice
