I'm staying at the Hoxton in London next week 15th and 16th.
Can anyone recommend some cheap places to eat and also places to visit while there?
Thanks

You can walk to Brick Lane for a curry, cheap and good. There are greeters outside who will offer discounts for you to come in. They are all vying with each other. When we went we haggled a bit and got 25% off the bill and a free bottle of wine. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0

also i know some of the places on brick lane (maybe ask before you go in?) let you BYO wine/beer so you can get a cheap/nice/whatever bottle from a supermarket and take it with you to save a bit - and make sure you have the one you want!Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0

actually IN the hoxton itself they're doing 25 or 50% off meals in their restaurant in Jan if you book and eat before 7pm, they'll tell you when you get there. it's still pricey-ish as it's just food that's reduced not drink but it's v.nice and if you want something fancier then it's probably a good bet.Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:0

There's pre-show deals around Covent Garden that are pretty good.. 10 quid for 3 courses
edit: you can book these on lastminute.com in advance (and sometimes combine with a cheap show ticket) - http://www.lastminute.com/site/entertainment/restaurants/product_list.html?restaurants=1&CATID=101909&intcmp=lnav_restaurants_coventgarden
Places to visit:
Science museum
Imperial war museum
Natural History museum
Tate Gallery
Natural History museum
Plenty more, have a look at this map to get an idea of where they are:

I would second Brick Lane for cheap curry. And those museums are good(apart from the Science one, which I find boring).
The V&A and National Portrait Gallery are good.
Sir John Soane's museum is a little know gem and doesnt take long (open saturday).

as you list gardeiing as one of your interests, why not visit Kew or Hampton Court?0 -
If you plan on travelling around Soho/Piccadilly area , use the Stockpot budget restaurants to eat. Quality food, good value. Old Compton St(Soho) and Panton St (just off Haymarket). There is also one in Kings Road.
Good luck0 -
These 2 links should help you have a brilliant money saving time in London. The first link is for food and the second we used when we went to london it has loads of help and advice. Have fun.
