Want a new TV: Will Comet price match Empire Direct?

Folks :-
My TV is on it's last legs and I want a new one.

I've got £365 worth of tokens I can use at Comet however I notice Empire Direct is considerably cheaper. As you may have guessed from the user name I live in Stockport and the nearest empire direct in Burnage is within 10 miles but appears to be a collection point only. Will Comet in Stockport match them?

If not a quick blast round the motorway will get me to Bolton where there is an Empire Direct warehouse and another shop and a couple of Comet's. Will Comet there pricematch Empire Direct?

PS In case anyone's interested my budget is probably £550 max, given I still have to pay off Christmas and I want a 37 or 40" HD ready screen. The Toshiba 37C3035DB appears to fit the bill and is £270 cheaper from empire direct.

I know they will (grudgingly) match the Bradford store.

Although one thing to note is that in-store ED prices are ofter much higher than the internet price. If you ask them to match their own net price they will but if you don't ask ...

I wanted to purchase a sat nav in Bolton and comet and empire direct are next door to one another.

Empire Direct were £10 cheaper but Comet would not match as they said that Empire Direct are not a High Street retailer but a warehouse style retailer and they will therefore not pricematch.

For what it's worth the Comet in Bolton will price match Empire Direct providing both Comet and Empire Direct have the item in stock. Empire Directs stocks aren't massive and if I was cynical I would think that Comet would make sure they are out of stock of any item Empire Direct were selling particularly cheaply.

Having said that Comet knocked £120 off a Philips 5522 37" telly.
