This isnt directly money saving, but deffinatly would help me get more out of the money im paying each eyar for my uni education.
Does anyone know how to stop being easily distracted?
Im currently studying for exams and the next thing I know im looking out the window trying to work out whether im going to wear a jacket when I go out this afternoon, or just randomly admiring a tree!!
There must be something that a mere (poor) student can do to stop being distracted.
(btw ive closed the curtains now)

Sorry, I don't know the answer but if you find it, bottle it as you will make a fortune!

I find I work best in short time spans - I think to myself I will study half an hour and then stop half an hour and so on.
I know it's a slow way but I actually get more done than if I sit 'studying' for hours on end.
I haven't resorted to staring at trees yet but I have got up and cleaned the toilet while trying to write an essay before now!
Best of luck!0 -
As above really I set myself 30 mins to an hour for studying then treat myself to a cup of tea (or something) it breaks up the time and you can go back over and see what you have accomplished!
I moved my desk infront of my window so I could look out and watch the cars go by!!!!

I hope you managed to study for this afternoon.

You sound like me! I'm terrible for distractions. If I'm not looking out of window, I'm on the internet. I keep telling myself I will set aside x number of minutes but it doesn't happen. I'm in no rush to complete something but I do have an exam in two weeks, followed by an essay deadline plus a portfolio to complete.
Right...I'm going to close my browser and work for 30 mins without looking at the internet!0 -
I used to switch off my pc when I was working to stop me idly surfing the internet in my first year but somehow that's not happening now in my second year...
Switching off music completely also helps me - although some people like working with music in the background, and others like it on loud!0 -
You need to keep focused on what you want to achieve in one afternoon and in one day. Write it down and start getting annoyed with yourself if you don't achieve it. Every student and every human is going to get distracted.
You need to get into a calm state and allow yourself to be distracted for a set amount of time but once that time is up then crack on. Make sure to give yourself breaks every 60 to 90 minutes to be distracted for another 10 mins or so.
Keep going like that and you'll get more stuff done."To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities." - Bruce Lee
