Going on Holiday Leaving Honda Jazz Hybrid in Car Park For 3 Weeks

I have a 2025 Honda Jazz Hybrid and will be going on holiday for 3 weeks and leaving the car parked for the 3 weeks.

I have been hearing a lot about the 12 volt battery going flat and I should connect a trickle charger to it but that won't be possible.

Has anyone had this problem with a hybrid car and what did they do?

A call to restart will be covered by a normal breakdown policy.

Otherwise you need a booster pack, but be wary of very cheap ones. As a minimum a set of decent jump, leads and a friend with another vehicle!

my Toyota hybrid has suffered a couple of times with flat 12v battery, the first time was over a Christmas period when I didn’t run the car long enough for the main battery to put enough charge in the 12v battery, called out Toyota assist for a jump start, the second time was my fault again as I was messing about with installing a dash cam and left it in accessory mode instead of ready mode, I’ve got a Noco jump starter which I used the second time, if you get one then keep in the car, not the boot as you can open the drivers door with the emergency key ( I’m assuming your Honda has this) ..

Left my Hyundai self charging hybrid standing for 11 weeks during last winter. Started as normal on return.

I've also read about this happening to 12v hybrid batteries. I didn't realise it could also mean you can't open the car too. Do we know if manufacturers are working on ways to stop this happening?

    How about disconnecting the battery?

Of course you can open the car.

The remote central locking might not work, with a flat battery… which is why you would need to put the key blade into the physical lock and turn it.

My car is keyless entry, last week the fob battery failed, I couldn’t open the door and had to use the emergency key, this set off the alarms and I had to hold the fob to the start button to stop the noise, the 12v battery on Toyota hybrids often runs down if the car isn’t used for long periods of time but they’re not the only ones, my previous mild hybrid ford puma also had battery issues , though mine never actually failed, it did shut down some of the systems, but plenty of owners did..

On some cars, the keyhole is hidden behind a plastic cover, and the key itself is tucked inside the keyfob.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Would £30 to save these issues be a fair price.

I carry a booster pack in my car every day.
