New LG TV with WebOS. Can't locate "U" App or "Watch Free UK" App.
hi. looking for some first hand experience, there's mention of this on the net but i havn't found a solution.
i did some research before and both of these Apps along with others i would like were said to be available, indeed the "U" App is even spcifically listed on the LG website as available.
no search within the Apps store on the TV reveals either. these are the only 2 i can't find.
2 ways mentioned to find "U" is to disable all internet access then create a "hotspot" via mobile, or change Location to "Africa" - really? these are just AI created tat i suspect.

A quick web search shows that there is a lot of people unable to get/install these apps on the newer LG TVs.
Another option is to buy a fire stick.and use that for the apps. Not ideal but should work.

Think your LG TV has Chromecast built-in, you could load up and run the apps on your (Android) phone and cast to your TV.
Again, not ideal but a workaround.

My LG TV is about a year old. I have both apps and they were pre installed. I have just checked the app store and did a search and they are still both there. Sounds like you need to have a chat with LG directly

Try this link as it tells you what apps are available for your TV model.
Watch free TV app was only available for 2024 models and earlier.
What model of TV do you have please?

the point of getting this set was to remove the need for a 2nd box although we may be getting a Freely box as an add-on, i need to check if either App is on that - i doubt it.
edit: looks like U may be on the Freely box as live channels obviously but it also mentions "on demand".
fl - i did do the "casting" thing last night and both work perfectly, i suspect this would be the alternative of choice but annoying.
boohoo. if thats the case with WFTV then there's no way to get it, why would an App be removed from availabilty on a new TV? "U" is definitely listed as available but i fear it may well have gone the same way of WFTV.

Why do apps get dropped from TV platforms? It's usually because they haven't reached agreement with the TV Co for the fee/arrangement that they have to pay to be included on their platform.
Unless you are Netflix, BBC or YouTube, the AppCo has to pay/share ad revenue with the TVCo to be included.
