Money Moral Dilemma: Is it fair to keep the loyalty points from doing my neighbour’s shopping?

I would get a separate loyalty card for the neighbour and use that.

I can understand what a faff it would be to split points - and he would have to have his own card too. Why not compromise and buy him a treat or two every once in a while (nice packet of biscuits/a bar of chocolate/nice teabags/tin of ham)? Even if the conversation is something along the lines of 'It was BOGOF. I've got one but I thought you might like to have the free packet'?'

So buy their shopping & don't use your loyalty card. Everyones a loser.
I do dislike new users using negative (& they always are) comments to up their post numbers.

Your neighbour is the loyal customer so is due the loyalty points.
The fact you choose to make a separate journey does not justify stating he ‘ owes you for this due to petrol costs incurred’.
He is a vulnerable 82 year old man as you yourself said so treat him with the respect he deserves. When you reach 82 (if you do) there will be many things you do not understand relating to managing life that others may be very adept at. Would you be happy they use that to their advantage while they get the plaudits for being such a fab neighbour???

I do my neighbour's shopping online. She offered to pay the delivery charge which is very helpful. I have always allocated Tesco points to her, as I feel strongly that I must account to her for all expenditure that is hers. She tells me she trusts me and isn't too bothered, but at least for myself and maybe her relatives I know everything is above board.
Taking the delivery, dividing it up between the two of us and then taking hers over the road is time-consuming, but I've got quite fast at it, so it's not too big a problem now.But as a nerdy spreadsheet person, it's easy for me to set up accounts for all the expenditure. I am an ex accountant, after all!

This is one of the easiest MMD's to answer ever. The question is, "Am I morally justified in keeping the rewards?" From the information you've provided, the answer is a resounding 'YES!' And don't let anyone on here tell you any different. Oh, and keep up the great work doing the weekly shop for your elderly, housebound neighbour! People like you are the epitome of a caring society.

I would say in conversation 'oh by the way, I use my loyalty card to get cheaper prices for you and then I get a few quid off my shop same as you do, is that okay with you or would you rather I looked into setting you up with your own loyalty card?'
You're not doing anything wrong but I understand the feeling of wanting to be above board with everything

Good on you for taking care of your neighbour. Yes, take advantage of that reward.

No problem with this - your neighbour gets the service he needs and benefits from lower club card prices, while you get a few extra points for your kindness in doing his shopping.

If this is a genuine post about a MMD, absolutely well done to you for looking after your neighbour! I really doubt he's that interested in a couple of quid here and there … money or points … so just carry on. The fact he has you to help him, interact with him, deliver his shopping, and know he's loved, is a blessing.
