love me some goodwill ๐, imagine if companies had this level of compassion ๐ they'll chase you to the grave, me thinks ๐

Why are you talking to the delivery company?
They are just trying to do what they've been contracted to do by the retailer - deliver a sofa.
Talk to the RETAILER.
They'll want their sofa back.
And why would you even consider taking delivery of a sofa when you have purchased a different one?

I agree with most others, contact the company you originally bought the sofa from, who refunded you, and ask them to get in touch with the delivery firm to tell them the sofa needs to be returned to the depot it came from. If this does not work then just refuse to accept delivery when they turn up with it, it is not your fault. I would also ring the delivery firm once more and tell them you will be refusing delivery if they insist on sending you an item that is not yours. Good luck.

Simple answer - refuse to accept the delivery.
In circumstances were a recipient refuses to accept delivery of an item, they have no option but to return it to the sender.

Agree with others: just reject delivery - itโs not your problem - no moral dilemma here.
But (reading between the lines) are you thinking of keeping the sofa as compensation for all your inconvenience - after being left with nothing but a deck chair to sit on? If so - bear in mind that you WOULD then be obliged to tell the retailer youโve got it & you WOULD be obliged to give them a reasonable amount of time to collect it. 30 days would be considered reasonable for such a large item - during which period you would have to keep it safe & unused. And if you didnโt tell them youโd got it, they could (in theory, at least) turn up anytime over the next 6 years to claim it back!0 -
Not really sure how this is an issue! The original order was cancelled, and you've had your money back. The original company has the liability for the arrangements with the delivery company - tell them to sort it, after all it's their sofa!
