    HI gatwickba,

I had a lovely phone call from RegainRMA? I think they were called Amex have passed my account over to them and they just checked and said glad you went through CCCS we will call again in 6 months to ask for an update. So they are not all bad.

    Heather.
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post
  • Thats good news Heather...

Are you doing the entire DMP with CCCS? I am doing my own plan with advise from them rather then them paying my creditors for me - as I am self employed I dont have a regular fixed income.

I am hoping they will accept my offer, especially with all thats going on in the global credit crunch. I dont think even the debt recovery agencies have much cash to buy "bad debt" now.

No news from Amex yet, but they should have got my letter today and I wont actually fall into arrears until 30th Jan. Fingers crossed! :o
  • Got a reply from Amex today, not quite the one I was expecting to be honest!
Its very "soft" and asking me to contact RMA Regain on a freephone (yes FREE) number!
Finally signed saying "with full financial disclosure, together we can try and develop a plan to deal with this situation"

I was expecting an invite to court basically!!!

Anyone ever dealt with RMA Regain? I presume they are a DCA of some sort?
  • Now reading horror stories on other sites about this mob....

Spoke to amex, asked me to send proof of income, and expenditure to them and then they will pass on to "our partner company RMA"

Am I legally obliged to send payslips and bank statements along with mortgage statements etc?

You're not legally obliged to send them anything. Saying that if you want to come to an arrangement with them you need to show what you are offering and why and that you are not favouring any one particular creditor - have you checked that RMA are able to pusue the debt i.e. CCA request, deed of assignement etc? I had RMA pursuing me for an alleged debt they couldn't prove - they are persistant and are likely to refer to their two solicitors - Colemans or Westminsters both of whom share the same address in Kingston-upon-Thames - they also have office space at RMA's Preston offices. They never responded to any of my correspondence.

Amex passed my debt onto a horrible company based in Glasgow called Allied. They phone and are very aggressive and say they need the full balance etc etc. When I explained I am paying my creditors all I can afford the guy hung up.

A couple of weeks later I received a letter from RMA Resolve who informed me they were now responsible in collecting my debt on behalf of Amex. RMA were polite and listened to what I had to say and accepted my first offer of £30 per month (£3000 balance).

DON'T LET THESE DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY'S BULLY YOU.
YOU MAY HAVE DEBT BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE THEM BETTER THAN YOU!!

    Hope this helps.

    S.

grrr Allied have started chasing me, let the fun start.
Watch this space.... Will update soon!
  • The letter I got from Amex says that RMA operate the regaine scheme on behalf of Amex, it also states that RMA are a partner company of Amex and will be "sympathetic" and deal with my situation "competently"

The close of the letter says, "with full financial disclosure from you and your cooperation, together we can try and develop a plan with you for dealing with this situation"

When I was having problems with the Coop bank, they dug their heels in, refusing all offers I made. The they asked me for copies of statements showing my outgoings etc. I sent them what they wanted and they immediately accepted my offers and froze interest.:j

The woman I spoke to at Amex on the freephone number said the account will be closed, charges will stop and interest will stop after a few months but they will not be putting a note on my credit file

Whatever happens, I am only paying what I can afford now, rather than continually robbing Peter to pay Paul.:T
  • Have now been contacted by RMA, accepted onto the Regain programme for the figure I offered initially with 4 monthly reviews of financial position.

Feel like a huge weight lifted from my shoulders.
  • Hi gatwickba

Just been offered a similar thing my amex.

    How are you finding it?
  • I find RMA / AMEX very easy to deal with. I have had my second 4 month review this week and have been offered a full and final settlement for 60% of the original debt, shame I cant afford it at the moment, but they are still accepting my payments, and all charges and interest are now stopped on all my debts.

I was really worried about dealing with RMA Resolve / Regain, but have found them to be "normal"

How are you doing with them?
