Parking Fine Advice - Car Parking Partnership (England)

Hi All,

Need some advice regarding a parking charge notice I received from Car Parking Partnership. I paid at the machine however can't remember if it asked me to put in a number plate (from memory as it back in December, it went straight to payment).

On the ticket it shows the registration as "sss" which I'm sure I didn't input (I use parking machines all the time due to my work), other then that the date and time matches up with the parking notice:

I appealed this and got a response today stating:

"We have reviewed the details outlined in your appeal, but we are not in receipt of sufficient evidence to confirm that the terms and conditions were not breached. The signage located at the above car park instructs motorists to enter their full, correct vehicle registration into the payment machine or terminal on site when making a payment for parking. After reviewing our records, we are unable to locate any vehicle details that match your vehicle registration. We believe this is due to a major keying error taking place."

They have put on the appeal that they will reduce the charge to £20 if paid within the next 14 days.

My ticket shows the date and time which matches up with the parking charge notice so I wanted to know if anyone has been successful escalating this to POPLA? The location is a far from where I live so its not really worth the trip just to check the machine but at the same time I don't want to give in to this company unless I have to.

Any advice/experience regarding this appreciated.

Thanks!

No you will fail at POPLA so don't bother but no paying. Easy to see off later, if they try a doomed claim via DCB Legal.

Read a few DCB Legal threads and @Umkomaas' thread. Easily seen off but not through POPLA.

  • Thanks for the reply, yeah I did think that, I will just pay it and be more cautious the next time I use such machines.

    Why are you paying?

They want you to pay even if you have done nothing wrong

    No you won't!

    My goodness NO!

    This isn't a fine.

Nobody pays. I don't understand how you made that leap when my reply clearly said NOT TO PAY.
