Trade Centre sell a faulty car (Merged)

Within 1/2 mile a warning light came on about tyre pressure. We immediately returned and they checked the tyre pressure and reset the warning light. We left again, and within a mile two engine management warning lights came on. We took a photo as evidence and immediately returned to Trade Centre.
We told the branch that we had no confidence the car was fit for purpose and we wished to return it, and get a refund. We were told that Trade Centre's policy was to check the car and let us know what they found.

On Monday 3 February they told us that they could find nothing wrong with the car (despite our photo) and they will not return our money.
We do not believe the car is fit for purpose and just want to return it. Trade Centre is refusing to do this.
What can we do?

Are the lights still on?0

The EML were on when we handed it back. Trade Centre tell us that they cannot see any warning lights. They have the car in their garage.0

It would seem as though the OP has done exactly the correct thing here.
This seems to be a clear case where "short term right to reject" is available to the OP as a remedy.
I am sure others will be able to advise on the process for this.
One consideration that may affect the detail of the solution would be if the OP paid in part with a trade in vehicle. That trade in may not still be available to be returned to the OP.
Out of interest, did the Dealer have any other cars that the OP would have been interested in? An exchange might be easier for the Dealer to process than rejection (although consumer rights seem to allow for rejection in this case).1 -
We bought a car from Trade Centre in Coventry on Saturday 1 February. We drove the car away on Sunday 2 February so they had time to complete their "99 point check".

How much was paid on CC?0 -
Have you got written evidence of your complaint to Trade Centre, and their response. You get a report from an independent garage and hopefully that will persuade Trade Centre to cooperate1

We paid £7,5000

If you do not get a satisfactory outcome with the Dealer, you may have a remedy via the CC (under S75 protection).2

I'm with grumpy on this. All they've done is turn off the EML. The fault (whatever it was) hasn't been fixed so the light will come back.
CRA 2015 says you have a right to reject
