I was right ! 😁
I have just had a quick look at the available offers on my natwest mortgage renewal rates and they have all increased slightly from what they were when I chose my fix at the weekend. So my theory and thought processes about them rising in the very near future were correct.
They now have the 2 year no fee fix at 4.13% and the 5 year no fee at 4.09%.....
@Rhyddid2026 I bet you were relieved when you found you had a 5 year and not a 2 year considering how much the rates increased recently, that must have taken a big weight off your mind.

Even if rates had plummeted today you'd still have made the right choice - remember choice can be good, outcome can be bad. In your case if rates had plummeted the fact you can still change mortgage would mean you'd save so again, good outcomefrom a good decision.
If you were completely locked in and signed up you'd also be delighted today. Good decision, good outcome.
if rates had plummeted you'd be sad and saying you did the wrong thing. No, still good decision, just not so good outcome but you'd still have the certainty which was whatr you wanted.
Right thing, outcome can turn out good or not so good from things outside your control, decision was still the right decision.
In this case I'm very glad you were proactive and looked into it all at a good moment for the timing of your mortgage ending and the timing of rate rises.

Looks like you did absolutely the right thing fixing your mortgage rate.
BBC is reporting at least 500 mortgage deals pulled in last couple of days.

Just having a catch up Tez. I definately think you made the right decision with a 5 year fix.
Thats pants with the drop in hours. I felt annoyed when a rejig meant I lost 6.5 hours one week but it was only for the week, not permanently so can imagine how you're feeling about it. Many businesses are struggling for survival so look to cut costs where they can.
How are they changing the hours? Do you now start later or finish earlier or have they just changed the lunch break from 30 mins unpaid to 1 hr unpaid? Im just wondering if you can utilise that extra 30 mins a day for something? At the end of the year when you became debt free you said that something you'd look into was retraining or something like that. Was just wondering if this extra time would give you chance to start implementing some plans?
Look at it this way though. At least your debt free now. A cut in hours this time last year would have had you struggling more.
