I was going to say the same - ours stays on all year round, but only kicks in when the temperature drops below that on the programmable thermostat, whether that's in July or December

I am not going to shiver in July just because it is July.  A thermostat & timer (or modern equivalent) .is the only way to go.  Although I can understand turning off a gas boiler if you still have one with a pilot light

Same, although I will admit to over-riding the thermostat and turning it on manually for the past few mornings and evenings...

75 year old here.  Unfortunately the heating's been on in Yorkshire most of the year!

Exactly what we do.

However we had a relative staying with us in the past - when they felt cold turned stat up to 25, when they felt too hot turned it down to 15!

Not yet.

I have an Air Source Heat Pump, but at the moment it's "off" because I've got the Thermostat set to 20 degrees in my main room and the temperature hasn't dropped below that.

When it does, I'll reset the thermostat to 24 degrees and let the heat pump controller curve determine the actual inside temperature.

PS the thermostat doesn't actually control the temperature, it just works as an on/off switch!

Same here but the temperature I have set on the main controller is 17C all day with a fallback of 16C overnight. Thermostats on most radiators. We have invested in thermal underwear and fleece throws!
Triple glazing makes all areas of the room habitable; previously I had to move my chair away from the old double glazing and even hang up an adapted duvet  to cover it on Winter evenings!
