To celebrate Luke Jerram's 'Mars: War and Peace' coming to Gloucester this October 2024, SoGlos has teamed up with Gloucester Cathedral to give away an out-of-this-world prize.

One lucky winner will receive a pair of tickets to one of Gloucester Cathedral's exclusive 'Mars: War and Peace' at night events, where they can bask in the glow of the red planet after dark.

After admiring the spectacular sculpture — which features incredibly detailed NASA imagery and is accompanied by an immersive soundtrack that highlights the impact of armed conflict on our own world — they'll be treated to a space and science-themed tour of either the Library, or a tour of the Tower, too.

Full of more than 6,000 historical tomes, including a Bible which belonged to Oliver Cromwell, a variety of medieval texts and one of only three surviving copies of the Historia Monasterii Gloucestriae, the candlelit Library Tour promises to be as interesting as it is atmospheric.

Or for those who want to get a glimpse of what we think is the most breath taking view in the county, climb the winding spiral staircase, past Great Peter — the only medieval bell of its size that's still in use — and up to the Tower to see panoramic views across Gloucestershire, that stretch as far as the Malvern Hills.

The winner will also receive two complimentary drinks from the Monks Hut and 10 per cent off in the gift shop, perfect for picking up a memento from their astronomical experience.

To be in with chance of winning, simply follow Gloucester Cathedral on Instagram and tag everyone who'd like to win on the post below — then follow SoGlos and share the competition to your stories for a bonus entry!
