Another out of interest thread.    Do you still carry a wallet, and if so why do you carry on it?    Do you have and use a physical debit card or you use mobile payments for contactless, or a combination of both?

Being a money saver I have not updated my mobile for 5 years so use a wallet for cards & loyalty cards (yes I know loyalty cards have gone digital) and bus pass!

I still carry a wallet, largely out of habit, I have a couple of credit cards, ID and some business cards in it. My debit card has not left home for five years, all my cards are loaded onto my phone and I use card via Google Wallet where possible, I do not think I have used a physical card since 2022 an probably only 2-5 times in the two years before that. I have not used cash since 2019 and in the five two years before that I only withdrew £150 of cash.

No wallet, haven't used cash since 2018.
I pay for reverything with plastic debit card, it's smaller than phone, don't need to worry that if my battery dies how will I pay for tube etc.

Just curious why you want to know.
And if 'wallet' is different to 'purse?

I rarely carry a wallet or a card since 2020. I use Google wallet on my phone. Worked out well apart from one day.

    • Don't think the thread starter will carry a purse
    • I think the thread starter is merely looking to simplify his every day carry

Don't judge a poster by their user name. I don't have a parrot or a cat.
The OP said 'out of interest'. Not to 'simplify his every day carry'.

Not carrying a wallet is a step towards simplifying your every day carry. I have an interest in simplifying my everyday carry for the past fifteen years. Looking forward to hearing something constructive to the thread starter's interest.

    OK.
Assuming that wallet is the same as purse, I still carry a 'wallet'.
I use actual credit cards but debit cards not so much.
    But I still carry them.
I have real pound notes in my wallet plus change.
At least I can pay for stuff if my phone dies or is lost/stolen.

I carry a wallet for all the annoying things that won't go digital. My bus pass, the National Trust (who demand to see backup ID if you try and use a digital bar code), my local garden charity, volunteer discount cards and my cinema membership card. As I have all this I carry a couple of backup payment cards - but only needed once in 4 years. And even some tatty old plastic stuff with the Queen's head on it, but there are moths in that section
