Insurance car write off

Our car has been written off by our insurance company following an accident caused by a lorry pulling a brick pillar down on top of it. We have been offered a settlement which we are challenging. The insurance company is proposing an interim payment. If we agree to this does it weeken our position in terms of challenging the final settlement claim.  Thank you

    Yes you are free to take the interim monies whilst the dispute is ongoing, only impact will be if you are in credit hire or such but then the offer itself is sufficient to trigger that impact anyway in most cases.

    That's correct.  Do not accept anything whilst the settlement is being challenged

    You do know you have posted this in the techie part of the forum you will get better advice in a more appropriate section.

    Yes, take the interim payment. If you don't it may cause a loss later if you go to ADR (refusing the interim payment means you wouldn't get 8% interest from the day you would have been paid)

    the money's more useful to you in your account than in the insurer's account.
