Smart Meter Gone Dumb

Hi, I've had a smart meter from British Gas for a while. It's a SMETS1. Apparently BG switched to a new payment system (I have  anew account number), which my SMETS1 meter does not work with. My meter has not been upgraded to work with the DCC network. When I complain, the complaint is started, but then immediately closed as it's about 'policy'. DCC say that almost all SMETS1 meters have been upgraded, but I can't seem to get any information out of BG on any schedule for my meter. Any advice? (and yes, I know many people don't want smart meters, but if I have one, I'd like it to work). Thanks, Mark
