Bank has reported the wrong information to the credit agencies, late payment on my mortgage.now they have said they made a mistake and offered £300 compensation but this is despite me telling them a month ago as I had refund due that please make sure you do not make an error and was assured everything is fine . I found out when suddenly got emails and letters from credit cards lowering my limits. Now they say they have six to eight weeks to adjust the report
This has caused me a lot of stress and my credit limit has gone done by £40,000 and score from excellent to fair

The credit score means nothing so ignore that. Do the reduced credit limits cause you any issue, either now or in the short term future? If not then take the £300 and ensure that your credit records are corrected, if they are an issue then you'll need to put a figure on what will satisfy you and be prepared to justify it.

The problem is going to be determining what you have lost, if anything. A reduced credit limit is annoying, but has it actually cost you money? Did you have to do something differently because of it?
If not, all you can really do is ask them to put the limit back once the correction is made, and account for time spent doing that.1
