  • Damp proof courses are rarely if ever necessary in old houses - do you have damp concerns?

    My 150 year old house has a slate dpc built into the stonework. I had to dig down through external soil to find it though.........

    Am talking about dry rod/injections methods etc etc. They are a con.

    And a DPC does not "fail" unless subjected to severe shock, and even then, it will be localised. Most of the time, damp is caused by elevated external ground levels, leaking pipes, gutters, or flashing. Fix the root cause, and the damp walls will eventually dry out.
