New situation

My daughter is thinking of moving in with her dad who is a pensioner. She’s on universal credit and gets help with her rent. How will this now going forward affect her if she goes to live with her dad who is a pensioner and is in a rented accommodation.

She will lose the housing element as she will no longer be liable for paying any rent.  If she moves partway through an assessment period then she will not get the housing element at all at the end of that period, so she will have to find the money for any remaining rent left to pay.  So she'd be best off moving near the beginning of an assessment period if possible.

If her dad claims any means-tested benefits (so anything other than State Pension and possibly AA/DLA/PIP) then it may potentially affect his entitlement too, depending on what exactly he claims.  If he currently lives alone then he'll definitely lose the single person Council Tax discount
