Definitions

The John Lewis Christmas Advert Quiz is also known as “Christmas quiz” and “quiz”. References to "you" or "your" mean any person who participates in the quiz (a "participant"). John Lewis are referred to as "we", "us" "their" or "our". These Terms and Conditions, in their entirety, are referred to as "Terms & Conditions" and "Terms".

Introduction

By participating in the quiz, you agree to be bound by these terms so please read them carefully. We reserve the right to amend the terms at any time by posting changes online. As a participant, it is your responsibility to review the terms regularly and make sure you’re aware of any changes made and that you agree to them.

The game

The aim of the game is to correctly guess the title of 5 John Lewis Christmas adverts as quickly as possible. For each question, one part of the image will be shown for you to guess the title of the advert. After every second, another part of the image is revealed until the full image is shown to you.

You’ll receive points for each correct answer and the number of points is determined by how quickly you can guess the answer before the image is fully revealed.

Sharing it on one or more social media channels will count as one entry into the prize draw.

Make sure to follow us @JohnLewisRetail and include #JLChristmasChallenge to enter. The competition is open until 7 January 11:59pm. Once the competition is closed, we’ll collect all entries and enter them into the prize draw.

Prize draw

Our prize draws are run by John Lewis Partnership of 171 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5NN (“John Lewis”).

Prize draws are open to UK residents aged 16 or over.

All scores shared on social media will be entered into the prize draw for customers eligible for participation within that time period. Any attempt by a participant to obtain more than one entry / entries by using multiple surveys, social media accounts, or any other methods will void that participant's entries, and that participant may be disqualified at our discretion.

No purchase or payment is necessary to enter the prize draw.

Prizes

There will be 81 winners (the "winners") selected from all of the valid entries shared on social media. The first winner selected will receive a £200 value e-gift card and the next 80 winners selected will each receive a £10 e-gift card.

The winners will be randomly selected by John Lewis once the competition is closed. We’ll send a direct message (DM) to the winners from the John Lewis official social account with a unique e-gift card code that you can use online or in-store at John Lewis and Waitrose (standard exceptions apply). In order for us to contact the winners, each participant must follow the main John Lewis social media account @JohnLewisRetail. If you do not follow our social media account, we won't be able to message you if you’ve won.

The prize will be sent to the winners within 14 days of the prize draw taking place. It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure they are able to accept prizes as set out and in accordance with these terms. In the event they are unable to do so, we reserve the right to re-award the prize to another eligible participant.

The names of the prize draw winners may be obtained by sending a stamped self-addressed envelope to "John Lewis Christmas Advert Quiz Prize Draw, John Lewis Partnership, 171 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5NN" detailing your request within 30 days of the relevant prize draw closing date.

All prizes are non-transferable and there is no alternative (cash or otherwise) for any prize in whole or part. We reserve the right to provide a prize of equal or greater value if a named prize is unavailable for any reason.

Entry into a prize draw constitutes each participant's acceptance of these terms. We reserve the right to amend these prize draw terms and will use reasonable attempts to notify changes to potential entrants. We reserve the right to exclude an entry to any prize draw for failure to comply with any of these terms.

Data protection

By entering the competition, you understand that for the purposes of administering

the competition and prize fulfilment, it is necessary for us to hold and process your personal data.

If you win, you agree that we may use your name and county of residence to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes, for no further consideration.

Limitation of Liability

We will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this competition or accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (including liability for fraud or death or personal injury arising from negligence) in which case

that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law. Your statutory rights are not affected.
