Marriage Tax Allowance

I just heard about this today and am considering if my partner and I are eligible. I earn around £26,000 and my partner is unemployed (but job seeking).

My partner and I entered a civil partnership in May 2023 so from what I've read we may be eligible for the allowance.

However, he is a foreign national here on a spousal visa, so would that mean he wouldn't qualify (despite the fact he would pay tax if and when he does have a job that is over the threshold)?

MTA has nothing to do with whether your partner is a foreign national or not.  It's the fact that you are "married" that is essential.

For what it's worth I'm a foreign national although not on a spousal visa and have had the MTA from my other half for about 10 years now.
