Neighbours roof possibly causing a leak. What’s my recourse?
I bought a property in June 2022 and since December 2022 I’ve been fighting a leak. I’ve got roofers coming out tomorrow to finish what they describe as a botch job on the lead and sealing. The roofers have also mentioned that next doors roof (terrace house, sloped roof into a shared box valley which we replaced) is extremely shoddy, and that it’s possible the water is running under their roof and into the internal wall.
My question is, what is my recourse if it is the neighbours home? They have been very difficult, and it took effort to get them to agree to the relatively small fee for the box valley fix. I will attempt to discuss it with them if the leaks continue after the fix, but if they refuse, is my only recourse approaching a replacement solicitor if we can prove negligence?
Ultimately, I’m crossing my fingers it’s just my roof so I don’t have to deal with the neighbours.
