Gross income - Does it include bank interest / ISA

Hi

my mother has been asked for her gross income in relation to applying for a grant for her house .

She is a pensioner with a small private pension from my dad but also have some savings . Do I need to include the amount she earns on the interest on her savings ? Also does it include the interest she has earnt on her isa accounts ?

thanks

There won't be a one-size-fits-all answer, so whichever body is asking for this information should offer guidance?

thanks it just says " Your gross income is basically your total earnings before anything is deducted, such as tax and national insurance. You should add together the gross income of all earning and contributing adults in your household to get a total gross income figure." on the form .

Interest from savings wouldn't normally be referred to as 'earnings', which typically denote salary, wages, pensions, etc, (hence the reference to tax and NI) so personally I think she'd be justified in omitting the non-pension income based on that definition.
