Van Insurance

Hi,
Looking for advice on the situation below.

24 year old working for Yodel, got his van stolen with some parcels in it.
He was using Yodel insurance at the time of the theft.
He left the keys in the van and the van running

I'm assuming the claim has been rejected due to him not turning off the engine and locking the vehicle.  I'm sure there must be something in the T&Cs about keeping a vehicle secure which he has breached.
"Never retract, never explain, never apologise; get things done and let them howl.”
  • He's got no chance of an insurance claim. I even had one rejected for a stolen motorcycle because I had left it outside my house, but not locked to an immovable object. The bike merely left with the ignition key removed was not enough security. It was in the very small print of the policy document. I found out later from a neighbour that they had seen the bike being loaded into a van by two men, and didn't realise it was being stolen at the time.

What advice are you looking for?

Most policies have requirements to take reasonable care to avoid losses and leaving a vehicle running will not necessarily meet that requirement.

Has it actually gone to the insurer yet? Have they responded at all?
