Back in July I tried my tv for the first time connected to the aerial point in the wall and had no signal, it had 2 connections and I tried both, spent £6 on a better quality rf cable just in case it was my cheaper ones fault still nothing.

Phoned H.A who said they can send someone out but if its found to be tenant fault I would be billed. I agreed as willing to pay if user error.

2 workers attended, first thing they did was the logical, check the cable was connected correct, still nothing, then mentioned they had an idea what it was as its common and went outside whilst they were outside the channels started working (tv was already tuned in) workers then left.

Waited around a month to get a bill saying tenant fault, wire plugged into wrong socket which I phoned about and disputed and was told to email in a dispute, which I did and never heard back for about 6 more weeks and got a letter saying things may be taken further as I haven't paid, I emailed back and mentioned I already messaged on X date and copied what I said before, got a letter back another 2-3 weeks later saying the charge stands as the workers reported back tenant fault.

I dispute again and don't hear back and get a letter today stating its my final chance to pay.

Not sure what else I can do, I have put my side forward and I would feel silly stating things like cables only go in one way, and it would be the first thing I tested.

  • They went 'outside'? Do you mean outside that room, or outside the building?
Have a look outside where the cable presumably comes down the wall, and see if there's a junction box or similar there.
You have NO idea what they did?
Could you also contact the company who did the fix, and ask them why they reported the issue as they did?
Do you have Legal Protection included in your insurance?
  • Outside the building they said it was a common fault, they mentioned something being reversed, the rest is faulty memory but I think they said something about frequency and it was flipped/switched.

It could possibly even be that, they reported back something was reversed/the wrong way round and the HA interpreted it as that, All I saw was a scribbled note saying tenant fault, cable in backwards (I think it said)
