Interesting advice on choosing a new home

I was just watching Escape to the Country and the presenter gave the househunters some advice at the end (as they hadn't made any firm decisions) which resonated with me, he said something like 'the best property for you is the one that makes you want to embrace its imperfections'.

The place I have now was really not what I was looking for in terms of property but it is a location I thought I'd never be able to move to, location won over the (many) compromises for me.

Good advice!

Hmm strange choice of words for me because "embracing its imperfections" kind of makes me think you've grown to like them.

My old house was a mid townhouse sandwiched between two others, which I didn't like.  But it did mean our heating bills were lower.  The garden was ridiculously big too which I didn't like, but perhaps better than being ridiculously small.  I tend to think I came to terms with the imperfections and perhaps saw some of the positives, rather than embraced them.
