OK, I know it's not moneysaving but wanted to post this here....
This morning when I got up I found a note to Santa on the worktop in the kitchen from my 9yo daughter. She hasn't written a letter to Santa this year because she says she doesn't really need anything. (Bless her heart!) so I wondered if this was a last minute list. Instead I found it reads:
Dear Santa,
I am writing to you because I would like to thank you for every year on Christmas Eve you have gone out and put presants under every Christmas tree. I will be happy with the presants you have given me, not just yours though everyones.
from Axxxxxx Bxxxxxxx
That, for me,sums up how lucky we are to have been given such a wonderful child. We were only blessed with one, but I couldn't ask for better.:A
I know Christmas is a hard time for lots of people, but I wanted to show that there are lots of good things happening all around the world today, and to wish everyone all the very best.
I know I am lucky to be blessed with a wonderful family this year, but for those of you who are having difficulties I hope the New Year brings a change in circumstances and 2008 brings better news for you and those you love.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays .

What a sweetheart, bet your eye's welled up when you read your wee darlings letter. My dd is nearly 2 and a half and I am so proud of her, she ask's me for kisses which I love so smother her with THEN she say's thankyou for them. Not quite as amazing as your dd but she's a wee sweetie, and I feel so lucky to have her in my life.
Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas.Booo!!!0 -

Aww. Bless. Your daughter sounds an angel. No wonder you are proud and want the world to know.
My DS is now 16 but I fill with pride every time I look at him. He has always been a 'high achiever' with straight A's, junior lifeguard at 10, karate blackbelt at 13, but it is his heart that makes me glow. We foster children with multiple disabilities many of whom have challenging behaviour and he has always loved and played with each as a sibling. He has learnt to sign and will advocate without hesitation. Sadly we lost a little girl this year. My DS was a rock and though like us he grieved he made every effort to comfort those around him. I feel truely blessed and incredibly proud.0 -
Play2day, your son sounds like a true star.
I am proud of my 3 stepDs equally. But the 10yo made me smile the other day when we were talking about holidays (we are taking them to london on thursday for 2 nights and then were talking about booking center parcs for summer).
She said:
"wow, we are all so lucky, i hope Santa knows we get nice holidays, maybe some of my xmas presents should go to children who aren't lucky enough to get special things all year long"0 -
In our house this afternoon:
My two boys were dancing around getting under my feet while I've been trying to tidy up and I'm sick of keep moving a small Cadburys selection box that one of them got from their teacher.
So to solve both problems, I told them to put a film on and eat the selection box!
A few minutes later, the youngest comes through and says:
"Mam, you've been working really hard so I think you should have this Fudge"
"I'm a bit busy right now, can you just eat it?"
"No it's ok Mam, you really deserve this Fudge"
"well I'm busy with bleach and stuff, so I can't eat it now. You just have it."
and off he goes.
A few minutes later:
"Maaaaam"
"now what?"
"neither of us like Fudge"
:rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Awww bless. Mine has been similar this year.
When we went to see santa yesterday and asked DS what he wanted, he said he had enough toys but would very much like to get his brother a brown bear because he likes teddies.
Santa gave him two presents for being so thoughtful.

Actually, I'm really proud of my kids but this year I'm so proud of my husband. He looked after me so well when I was ill, without complaint or resentment, he was ill himself for a long time and has recovered and gained a new strength. He's plucked up the courage to leave a safe well paid job that he hated to follow his dream and has worked so hard to make sure his new business is already doing well.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Yes very, proud that they are such lovely children and I couldn't and wouldn't wish for anything else from them.0

What a lovely thread. I'm proud of my son - like someone earlier - he is academic and sporty but more importantly as he is modest about his achievements it's his kindness and thoughtfulness that I'm constantly proud of. He is always asking if there's anyhing he can do to help and makes me snort with laughter at his sense of humour. I do feel lucky and proud.0
