Shopping has not registered on Card

Hi,

I was in Tesco yesterday and used their self-service tills. There was some issues with their tills and a staff member had to come several times to approve my bags. I have checked today on my card and nothing has registered for the payment and now I am worried that I may have exited without paying which I am not sure is even possible. Can anyone advise on how to correct this issue?

Staff approval for specific purchases shouldn't affect the final payment processing - did you tap or PIN-verify the purchases at the end, and were any errors or anything unusual displayed at that stage?

If there were till issues then it could be that settlement is going via some sort of exception process that takes longer, so you might be best to wait a few days and see if it comes through.

If it doesn't, and you return to the store and explain the situation, it seems at least possible that they'd write it off....

These tills can store payment data for up to 30 days in case of issues with their end of day polling process (anything from It issues to digger through phone line).

    Did it offer a receipt?

You're probably best to go back into the store and ask.

Pop in or call the store and tell them what's happened.

I am worried that I could get into serious trouble.

How much are we actually talking about here?

Leave it 30 days to see if the payment has been taken. By which point, nobody is likely to care.

I am still waiting 4 years for an £100 meal to be taken from a restaurant in Berlin.

I doubt that would be the case, but if you're reluctant to contact Tesco, there is no other way to correct the issue other than to sit tight and see if the charge eventually happens.

As asked by an earlier poster, was a receipt issued?
