MSE Best rates tables ....

Why have some of the best rates disappeared from the MSE (I Yr fixed) table?

Best rate currently showing is Zirrat at 5.9% - Moneyfacts are still showing several rates above this - while second place on MSE goes to Hampshire Trust at 5.85%.

No mention, for example, of Gatehouse - the only one I have checked as I have a personal interest - which is still showing on their own website at 5.9% .....?

He means that that MSE allegedly aren't interested in posting links that don't profit them. I don't think that this is really the case. E.g. for bank switching bonuses they do mention Co-Op RAF. All MSE affiliated links are clearly marked.
  • maybe any MSE reps might want to comment?
  • I have given up using MSE comparison for this reason. Now use Moneyfacts Compare. Seems to me to be the best comparison site. Sometimes use Savers Friend but they only give the top 5 and nothing else so not much use really.

I haven't had to use the comparison sites for a while due to money being in 'fixes'  - last time was about six months ago and I didn't notice this discrepancy then. Is it a recent thing on MSE ?  - Forunately I was also pointed towards Moneyfacts a good while ago ....

Rates are changing all the time, also there are new entrants ( I had never heard of Zirrat) . So most likely it is just an error/something overlooked/somebody off sick/ computer glitch etc . As it is a free service you can't complain too much really.

I've noticed it for some time, especially with providers like Gatehouse not appearing on the MSE tables when their rates were definitely competitive.

Is this perhaps a Sharia account issue?  MSE used to include a separate section within its savings article for Sharia accounts paying expected profit rather than interest, and still retains the explanation about these in FAQ towards the end of the piece, even though they no longer seem to list any such accounts....
