Just to wrap up... car returned Friday evening.
The T&C's state that removal of the credit card authorisation for the excess amount can take between 14 & 30 days, but I've just checked (Tuesday morning) and it's been removed already.
All in all, no complaints from me.
I'd be OK using them for MOBILITY abroad in future.0
