I received a letter informing me I have to pay back £7456 as I've gone over the permitted work amount I work in the food industry and I received tip which took me over. I stuck to the rules and it's out of my control what I get tipped so the tips have cost me a whole years wages can anyone help?

Tips are declarable income.

Not a good situation for anybody to find themselves in, but the rules around Permitted Work on ESA are defined. The OP must have been earning over the limit for a long time to be hit with an overpayment that large.
