Tax free childcare and retiring

Mum of two boys (under 5) and my partner is about to retire ( he’s a couple of years older than me). We currently get tax free childcare for both children, and 30 hours free childcare for the youngest. I understand we won’t be eligible for either when my partner retires even though we’ll be worse off financially.
Has anyone any experience/advice on whether there are options available where we continued to get the discount? (We’re in Wales)
thanks
thanks

Will you need childcare if your husband is retired?0

Yes, he’ll pick up a lot of the childcare but I’d like the youngest to have a few days to socalise with peers and have the opportunity to keep learning and developing independantly. But also, it’s pretty full on looking after a pre school/toddler and I’d like my partner to have some time to himsef after working all his life to wind down and relax. We’ll find a financial balance that has to work I guess. Just wondering as our situation isn’t run of the mill whether others had a similar situation and was there any advice. Thanks!0

I believe you would only be eligible for 30 hours free funding if your partner is unwell and not able to work, not just because he wants some time to himself. You can maybe get the 15 hours funded that all kids get ( early years funding).1

Another option to consider would be partial retirement for your husband - or go self employed.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
