2 friends were on this last month and weren't too happy.
Was anybody else on this cruise?
In London this weekend, two newspapers carried stories on the woes of passengers aboard a Princess Cruises' trip around Asia. As it happened, Sapphire Princess departed Bangkok's Laem Chabang on November 18 for a 16-night voyage that featured stops in Singapore, Vietnam's Nha Trang and Vung Tau, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Okinawa -- as well as Shanghai, Nagasaki and Beijing.
Due to extremely rare late November typhoons -- two of them, actually -- in the South China Sea, the ship's captain was forced to cancel first the calls at both Vietnam ports and then at Taipei and Okinawa (the rest of the itinerary remained on schedule). It was a fairly extreme rate of cancellation by any measure, especially for folks who'd paid upwards of $6,500 apiece (and more) for what many regarded as a "trip of a lifetime." And people weren't happy.
