Job lot to charity

Does anybody know if any charities will pick up a job lot of lots of items i have to go to charity? Not furniture, just lots of "small" items, books etc. Otherwise it will take me days and a lot of petrol to transport to my local charity shop!
Similarly i am not interested in selling as there is too much. Would rather money go to charity anyway.

I'm not aware of any at a national level, but I suspect it will vary a lot from location to location, depending on the particular volunteers and whether they have available vehicles, are capable of lugging heavy boxes of stuff and whether they think it will be worth their while.
After all, if it's going to cost you a lot of petrol and effort, it will cost them the same!
So you'd be best ringing round the shops local to you.
Be aware that if the small items include DVDs and CDs, we found a lot of charity shops no longer take them, and more than one refused books on the grounds that 'people don't read any more' (!?)

Check your local hospice shop? The person who has not made a mistake, has made nothing0

The majority will only collect furniture0

Some have volunteers who do that but best to phone around and ask as I expect it will vary by location.0

Ok thanks. Its things that are too good to throw in a skip. Shame family or friends dont want anything0

I had the same problem and asked many charities. I don't drive so not able to take them myself. It's annoying when many have notices asking for donations. Eventually British Heart Foundation took them. No issue with taking books at all.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Lots of charitable organisations are snowed under with donations & are becoming very picky indeed.
Unfortunately they just don't want to be lumbered with lots of unsellable stuff that they then have to pay to dispose of.
Sad but true.

If it's good enough to give away and you don't want to sell it, post it on Freecycle, Olio, Trash nothing, Gumtree freebies (all Free places).
You post, arrange a collection time and people collect from your house, or you can leave them on your doorstep wrapped up at a mutually convenient time.
That way they don't go to landfill and get a new home. Sometimes charities have volunteers who have accounts on there and they collect items, sometimes it's just ordinary people, schoola, nurseries, care homes, clubs. All sorts basically.2 -

If there are any tools or sewing machines or the like among it then TWAM do have local collectors and will refurbish even the stuff you might think well past it’s best. Just putting that out there in case it helps you or others who like me end up clearing out a workshop or shed of someone who’d dabbled in making and mending🙂
