Change of arrival airport

I have friends that I am trying to help and would appreciate advice please.

Their return flight yesterday from France to East Midlands was cancelled due to the air traffic control issues. Ryanair have told them that they cannot get them onto an alternative flight until next Sunday, and then it will land at Stansted rather than East Midlands. 

Should the airline be responsible for arranging and paying for the transfer from Stansted to E. Mids where their car is parked, or are they on their own now?

Theoretically the airline should arrange onward transport to the originally booked arrival airport, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they didn't, in which case the travellers should book reasonable public transport themselves and claim it back:

6.8 Where airlines offer to re-route passengers to / from a different airport than the original flight, the airline should organise the transport to / from that airport. The CAA does not expect airlines to fail in this obligation. However, where such a failure occurs, the airline should provide prompt re-imbursement of any expenses incurred by affected passengers in travelling to / from the alternative airport and should inform the affected passenger directly, for example by email, about how to make a claim.
