Fake cd's

Hi everyone, I purchased a cd off ebay which i received today - and guess what - it's a fake! I'm usually very careful about this sort of thing checking feedback etc. There are sellers who are selling cds for £1.99 and in a round about way say that it's not the real deal and at this price its quite obvious (not that it's right). However this seller has a fairly high feedback with loads of happy customers. I paid just over £4 for this cd but other people have paid up to about £9!! It's a fairly convincing copy, ie printed cd, full booklet insert etc. Unfortunately the grainy laserprinting, orange face and illegible small print give it away. Having just trawled back through 20 pages of feedback there are about 2 people who also spotted this and have been left neg feedback. Should I do anything? I really don't want a neg in return as i've already had a couple over xmas from ridiculous newbies who hadn't read the listing properly. I guess it was only £4 but it annoys me that people have paid full price for copies and are non the wiser.

I suggest emailing the seller first and saying that you are unhappy with the product and nowhere in the listing it states that it is a copy. You would like a full refund and are quite happy to send the CD back (at cost). Take it from there.0

Leave a neg, do it for his future buyers.
And report him to ebay, and open a SNAD dispute. DO NOT return the item - it's a fake, you're not obliged to.
Tell trading standards if it's a UK seller, too. Don't let these toerags get away with it.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Contacting the buyer FIRST, and getting her money back (hopefully) is a better way to start things. THEN once the money is received I would report him to ebay and open a dispute.
With the ins and outs of ebay, she isn't guaranteed her money back if she dives right in.0 -

You're absolutely right... I tend to focus on the thing that leaps out at me first... in this case, worrying over getting a retaliatory neg!
Although there's no point opening a dispute once you have a refund. A dispute goes on their permanent record. My TV is broken!

I suppose it's six and half a dozen. But I always find emailing first is a good start0 -

Normally I'd agree with you, but I don't waste courtesy on bootleggers. :mad:My TV is broken!
