Stupid question re mobile phone sim cards

I'm going to ask what might be a very silly question about mobile phone sim cards.
I have an unlocked phone, with an EE sim but am out of contract. I pay about £10/month for 12GB data. I'm pretty happy with this but want more data so I can get some music. EE will not match any of the available sim only deals, and like all the networks just keep putting prices up and up (although I have negotiated sticking at £10 with some extra data several times).
Is it really so simple to order a sim from Lebara or iD or whoever, get all your PUK codes etc., swap the sims and my phone will just carry on working like before? It feels like there will be a catch? It can't be that easy - can it?

Yes its as easy as that.
What do you mean by "get some music", though? I have Spotify (paid sub) and it lets me download playlists and I do that on wifi, cant you so the same?1 -
Yes .. although you need to ask EE for a PAC (not PUK).

Yep, that easy.
I just switched from Plusnet to ID Mobile, more data for a lower cost. Simply ordered a new SIM, when it arrived I requested the PAC (Port Authorisation Code), which I got in seconds. I then went to my ID Mobile account and entered it there - my number ported the next day and my account with Plusnet was closed automatically."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein2 -
Once you get your new SIM, check you can get a decent signal with it before you jump ship and commit PAC and your old number

Thank you all for putting my mind at rest. Appreciate it.
@la531983 I haven't used Spotify much so didn't know you could download playlists. I was thinking of music while I'm out and about but I will have a play before committing to extra data etc.If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -

Noticed today that superdrug have a payg sim for 20 quid on the 3 network with unlimited data
Also asda on the Vodafone network also do unlimited data for 20 quid (I think)
And giff gaff on the o2 network , unlimited data for 25 quid, although I was with them and they were terrible for throttling you during the daytime, I'm currently with asda and haven't noticed too much throttling0 -
Ported to Lebara this week from Vodafone, went very smoothly.1

Did you buy the phone on contract with EE
If it is locked to EE you might have to ask them to unlock it.0
